Troops from the Somalia National Army SNA have been deployed along the Jowhar-Balaad road on Tuesday a day after Alshabaab killed at least 10 soldiers, Radio Dalsan reports.
“The group tried to disrupt the area. We were new here and in the process of handing over troops.” Mohamed Mohamud an SNA Commander in charge of the area told Radio Dalsan.
“They tried to take advantage of that but we have now deployed a strong force” he said.
AlShabaab on Monday had launched attack on the remote towns of Galoley, Raahoy and Elka Geelow that lie between Jowhar and Balaad.
