Rampant corruption within the Somali Police has helped al-Shabab conduct complex attacks and militant operations in Mogadishu and other parts of the country.

“Others are very corrupt and have emersed wealth that is not theirs are,” said the party leader.
“We have young people in the security sector who are developing ten storey buildings and travelling to Turkey, Malaysia and Nairobi for holiday,” he said ‘questioning’ their source of wealth.
