Somalia capital Mogadishu witnessed two car bombings in a spun of less tan an hour after two car suicide bombers wwee intercepted by security agents.
In the first incident at the KM4-Airport road the security agents suspected a vehicle which had forced its way through a checkpoint.
The security agents shot at the vehicle killing the suicide bomber before an explosion occured.
Less than a kilometer a second vehicle was intercepted at the Banadir junction in Hodan district at a NISA security checkpoint Sei Piano area.
Security agents shot dead three occupants of the vehicle as it forced its way through before it exploded.
Two security agents were shot at in a gunfight that ensued earlier.
The two explosions occured after hundreds of Mogadishu residents participated in its first Marathon in 30 years.
Insurgency group Alshabaab issued a statement claiming responsibility for the two explosions.
