The president of Somalia’s northeastern semi-autonomous state of Puntland, Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas and a delegation he is leading are set to visit Gaalkacyo.
Puntland president who was in Addis Ababa has cut short the Ethiopia visit following two suicide attacks on Gaalkacyo’s local government headquarters on Sunday.
Abdihakim Abdullahi, Puntland deputy president visited those who were injured and admitted at a local hospital, and wished them a quick recovery.
President Gaas and his delegation will arrive at Gaalkacyo airport on Sunday noon, and visit the wounded victims at the city’s general hospital.
The death toll from Sunday’s double suicide car bombing in central Somalia has risen to 27, with nearly 90 others injured, according to doctors.
The director of the Galkayo Medical Center, Dr. Abdulkadir Mohamud Jama says the wounds sustained by the victims are unusually complicated.
