Key member of armed group Alshabaab has surrendered to Somali security agencies.
Mohamed Dahir also known as Tmio Jilac has surrendered to Somali Police in the central regional state administration of Galmudug.
Speaking to Radio Mogadishu during interview Timo Jilac said he joined the group on early 2009 and decided to quit after witnessing injustice committed by the group against the people.
Asked about what forced him to join the group in the first place Jilac said the “fantasy of youthful era.”
He said he was aided by relative who is an official in Galmudug regional state to escape or defect from the group station in Xarardheere.
Timo Jilac demonstrated the willingness to start afresh his new life while not ruling out to closely work with security agencies in the region.
Several key members who defected from group are helping Somali federal government restore order in the country.
