Five state  Mps from Jubbaland have arrived in the Somali capital Mogadishu after fleeing an ongoing crackdown on the opposition by the state President Ahmed Islam Madhobe, Radio Dalsan reports.

The five are said to have been among fourty Mps who signed to have a vote of no confidence against the cabinet tabled in the regional parliament.

This came hours before the arrest of MP Ahmed Abdi Hassan who lobbied for the ousting of the Madhobe cabinet. Hassan arrest came a day after his immunity was stripped off by a Parliamentary Committee.

Opposition Mps have recently accused the President and his cabinet of incompetence.

In a Press Conference held in Kismayu on Monday Mohamed Abdi Yusuf who four months ago   was also stripped off of his immunity accused Madhobe of nepotism.

“Jubbaland ministers are all ceremonial and no one does his work independently. Young boys who are relatives of the President work under them. Most ministers don’t have education and relevant skills. And the President wants that way” he told reporters.

“More than 80% of the Jubbaland employees are from the President’s family. more than 90% of  Jubbaland security forces are from the President’s family. 95% of Commanders of the security forces are from the family. Example commanders of the NISA, special forces, Police, the federal army in the state and the airport are all from the Presidents family” Yusuf claimed.

“95% of judiciary staff are also from his family. For example, the Chief Judge, Attorney General and the Judge of the Court of Appeal. These are the three top judiciary posts that are in place and the holders are from President’s family” he added.

“The commission tasked to interview and recruit employees are from his family and they don’t employ any body other than their kinsmen where as the youth of Jubbaland are hanging around jobless,” said Yusuf.

Yusuf is the fourth MP to be stripped off immunity for allegedly criticizing the Madhobe Presidency.
