Somali Presidential elections will be held on 30th November the interim election commission has confirmed.
The body tasked to conduct one of the most challenging democratic exercises in the horn of the African state has cited security and economic issues resulting the delay.
The Chairman lawyer Abukar Omar has partially blamed the delay on the Somali government international partners saying there are attaching their support to “conditions” that he did not give further details.
Sources have also confirmed that the disagreement on the number of lower house representative allocated to Somaliland and security issues in the regional state of Galmudug are other issues that have become stumbling block to the historic elections in the country.
Earlier timetable of long awaited Somali Presidential elections was scheduled at the end of next month.
