Former Presidential candidate and Wadajir Party leader Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame have cast doubt over the coincidence of the presence of Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire in UAE when the signing of a Tripartite agreement between Somaliland, Ethiopia and DP World Company took place.
In a statement issued on his official Facebook account, Warsame said the government should come address the issue among others evolving around the Berbera port deal.
“The other thing that has caused doubt is the coincidence of the day the Prime Minister tweeted that he met with the Emirati heir-to Sheikh Muhamad Bin Zayid and the day the media report of the agreement was released on March 1, 2018†Warsame posted.
Warsame criticizes President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo for being aloof over the Berbera Port and UAE military base in the breakaway region of Somaliland.
“I am aware that Speaker of the parliament sent a writing to the President ten months ago about these issues and other similar ones but he is yet to respond†he stated.
Khaire has been on an official tour of the Gulf state as the $1bn agreement that gave a 19% stake to Ethiopia was being signed.
Immediately upon his arrival back in Somalia the Premier issued a statement rejecting the agreement terming it illegal.
