Residents of Garbaharey protest against AMISOM killings

The residents of Garbaharey town in Gedo region have protested against AMISOM troops.

The demonstration is linked to local khat trader allegedly killed by AMISOM last Sunday.

Angry locals barricaded the roads with burning tires while demanding answers from AMISOM regarding the death of the trader.

Hundreds of families were displaced last week after Kenyan Military which is part of AMISOM troops in the area have demolished houses along the border in BeledHawo prompting protest.

Kenyan government is planning to build a wall along its porous border with Somalia to curb increasing Al Shabaab cross border attacks inside its territory.

Somalia believes the move is counterproductive and close security cooperation between the neighbors is only way forward to defeat armed group Al Shabaab.
