At least one civilian was killed and four bodyguards wounded after hand- grenades were thrown into the residential house of Somali lawmaker and minister in Hamarweyne district, Mogadishu, the district police commissioner confirmed.
“We have arrested four people suspected to have been with the group that attacked the honorable minister’s house last night, and we will bring them to justice”, a policeman said.
In the house was the deputy minister of defence and MP, and also a government official.
“Several hand-grenades were thrown into the residential building of the lawmaker and minister before the assailants escaped,” an eye witness told Radio Dalsan.
The district commissioner conducted security operations after the attack and arrested several people, most of whom were young men.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but al-Shabaab have previously claimed responsibility over similar attacks.
