AU peacekeeping troops have thwarted seaborne attack by suspected Al Shabaab militants on the beach of Mogadishu airport this evening, security sources have confirmed to Radio Dalsan.
There was attention at the Mogadishu International airport which is just next to Indian ocean shores at the capital where Somali ledaers were meeting on National Consultation Forum on 2016 electoral process.
Heavy gunfire was heard across the city during the botched attack.
Armed group Al Shabaab which often conducts hit and run attacks in city was pushed out of the capital Mogadishu three years ago by Somali National Army backed by African Union troops.
