Armed group Alshabaab has declared tribal elders council in the country.
The declaration made on Tuesday in undisclosed town in Bay region of Somalia was dubbed as Islamic council of elders.
Senior Alshabaab leaders were present during the ceremony in which the chairman and his deputies were announced.
The formation of what is termed as national Islamic elders’ council comes weeks before historic elections in the country.
Armed group has vowed to disrupt the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections set in the country on November.
