A government security agent was killed following two IED explosions in Bosaso on Wednesday morning, hours after a well-armed group of fighters attacked a police base in the town.
Puntland’s Internal Security Minister Ahmed Abdullahi Yussuf said three people were injured and that they are pursuing the criminals behind the attack.
“There are injuries. Three people were injured. And we are pursuing them,” said Mr Yussuf.
However, Radio Dalsan received reports that the deputy commander of the Police base Ahmed Mohamed Ali Sanweyne and two Police officers were injured in the fight.
The Alqaeda linked Alshabaab fighters later claimed responsibility for the attack in an affiliated website.
The security agencies in the area arrested four persons suspected to be involved in the attack and are under investigations.
