Authorities in the breakaway region of Somaliland arrested a local journalist after he posted on his Facebook calling for Somali unity.
Adam Jama Oogle was arrested at his home on Monday by security agents acting on orders of regional governor of Sool Abdi Hayre Dirir.
Local journalists told Radio Dalsan that the former Radio Lasanood journalist had implied that the people of the Sool region supported to be rejoined with Somalia infuriating Somaliland officials.
According to the journalists Sool region authorities have demanded that Ogle’s family writes a guarantee that the freelance journalist will not publish similar posts in the future.
Somaliland last week released poet and activist Naima Ahmed after 20 days into her three year jail term for her Somalia unity sentiments.
