Somali: At least four killed fighting in Gedo region

Reports form Beled Hawo town in Gedo region in Somalia indicate that at least four people have been confirmed dead and eight wounded in the fighting between residents and soldiers loyal to Jubaland security minister which broke out in that region, sources have told Radio Dalsan on phone.

The clashes flared up in one area in Gedo region southwestern Somalia, after two warring sides exchanged gunfire, leading to the death of four civilians and wounding eight others.

Those wounded in the fighting were transported to Beled Hawo town hospital for medical treatment.

“Fighting broke out when Jubaland soldiers attacked a house meeting by militia who were preparing to carry out attacks against Jubaland,” a resident told radio Dalsan.

There are reports indicating that the fighting relates to the formation of administration in that region. The Jubaland regional administration has not given any comment regarding the fighting.
