The former NISA Director Abdullahi Mohamed Ali “Sanbaloolshe” has accused the government of interfering with the election held in Jowhar on 28th of January, where he was a contestant, Radio Dalsan reports.
Speaking to VOA while in Mogadishu, Sanbaloolshe said that the government has influenced the process and paid USD 1 million to make sure of his lose.
“What led to my defeat are three. The electoral body didn’t hold the election at an appropriate time. The process was not fair due to interference by the government. I feel the government was interfering the process and it has interfered directly by giving my competitor a visible financial hand. The money issued by the government poisoned and changed their feelings. Surely those challenges that I faced made me lose,” said Sanbaloolshe.
The former NISA Director also accused the government of breaching a fight against corruption when it practices the vice which weakens the country’s economy.
“The government says it will fight corruption but it’s paying One million on just on just one seat. And you know the economic challenges the country is facing,” he said.
When asked whether he has evidence for his claims Sanbaloolshe said that all the delegates, some of his competitors and even Hirshabelle leaders know about it.
Sanbaloolshe added that the government feared he will be an opposition if elected but stressed that he would have served his country well.
On the election date, after the result was announced, Sanbaloolshe said that the process was fair and that he accepted defeat but what has transpired to his change of mind is not known.
