Kenyan Police detain suspect linked to Mombasa cleric killings

Kenyan Police said that they have detained suspect linked to the killing of Muslim clerics in the port city of Mombasa.

Said Salah Said was detained in Mandera along Kenya-Somalia border while trying to escape to join armed group Al Shabaab.

Said is believed to be behind the killing of Sheikh Mohamed Idris who was the chairman of council of Imam and preachers of Kenya.

Sheikh Idris was killed in the port city of Mombasa on June last year.

Several other Muslim clerics were killed in Mombasa from 2012 to 2014 among them controversial Imam Sheikh Abud Rogo.

Al Shabaab has carried out retaliatory attacks in Kenya since Kenyan government sent troops inside Kenya.
