Mogadishu’s former Mayor Ahmed Mude Hussein passed away at his home in Mogadishu on Monday morning at the age of 88 following a long illness, and buried in Mogadishu his family has confirmed.
He was the mayor of Mogadishu from 1958 to 1963.
Members of the civil society, the Somali parliament and other government officials have sent their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
He was one of the most influential politicians in Somali politics from 1963 to 1981.
“He was a very good friend and a distinguished politician. He was a national hero,” said a member of his family.
Some of his friends described him as a humble and talented man.
