A day after the Somalia Speaker Election Committee announced voting date State minister for Trade and Industry Abdi Aziz Hassan Mohamed has officially resigned.
Mohamed confirmed to journalists on Monday that he had resigned in order to pursue for the Speaker Position as required by the committee.
The committee on Sunday issued regulations for the contestants and announced 30 April as the day of elections
He thanked Prime Minister Khaire for appointing him Minister in March 2017.
The registration of the contestants started on Monday.
Other Ministers eyeing for the position are Water and Energy Minister Salim Ibrow and his Defense Minister Mohamed Mursal.
