The Federal Government of Somalia has introduced an 18% tax returns to civil servants salaries, Radio Dalsan reports.
The new tax has however faced protest from a section of government employees including members of parliament.
Of immediate concern has been whether the taxation will be backdated to include January salary.
Legislators are demanding that the tax be reduced to at least 4-5%.
The taxation is to affect all civil servants including Ministers.
It is said that the civil servants are yet to take their last month pay fearing that they be taxed the %18 income tax.
