President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has intervened to stop the controversial impeachment against Speaker of the Lower House Mohamed Osman Jawari which was set for Saturday.
Jawari held a Press conference on Saturday morning where he announced that he had held a crisis meeting with the President .
“My two deputies and I were called by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo. We discussed on the Parliament and after the talks President requested that we stop today’s parliamentary session and requested for talks on the current political tension and we all agreed to that” Farmaajo told reporters.
He asked all Mps to accept Farmaajo’s request and seek the unity and status of the parliament.
Jawari who had on Friday drawn swords at Farmaajo for alleged interference with the motion said the decision was reached to avoid farther political tussle and tension.
Rival Mps from both PM Hassan Khaire and Jawari camps were Friday night were still lobbying ahead of the much anticipated motion with activities going past midnight.
