Former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has been forced to cancel a scheduled trip to Sweden after the country’s Embassy in Ankara Turkey declined to stamp the visa on his Passport.
According to a source The Embassy had insisted on stamping the Visa on a separate entry form that Somali passport holders are subjected to.
The former President rejected this insisting that the Visa be stamped on his diplomatic passport a request the embassy declined.
Mohamud together with a delegation of Mps and former Constitution Minister Farah Abdiqadir canceled their travel.
Mohamud was scheduled to meet the Somali diaspora community in a meeting organized by the Olof Palmes International Center a Non organization tied to the Swedish Labour Party.
Most Scandinavian countries do not recognize the Somali Passport following the fall of  the central government in 1991.
