Erdogan expected in Mogadishu for Embassy opening

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to arrive in Somali capital Mogadishu later this week.

According to sources within the government Villa Somalia is organizing the welcoming of the Turkish leader’s third visit in the country.

During his visit in Somali capital, Recep Tayyip Erdogan will oversee the opening of Turkish sponsored projects including health facilities and the largest Turkish embassy in Africa which was constructed just near the Indian Ocean in Mogadishu.

Already delegates from Ankara have arrived in Mogadishu on Tuesday as part of preparation for the entrance of Turkish President.

It will be President Erdogan third visit to Somalia, first in August 2011 and on January last year to inaugurate Mogadishu International airport and Ergoan hospital constructed with his government help.

Turkey is the first country to establish diplomatic ties with Somalia apart from conducting various development and humanitarian projects since 2011.

It is also training Somali armed forces in an effort to help rebuild national army for peace and stability to prevail.
