Somalia militant group Al-Shabaab on Friday attacked the Hiraan region town of Moqokori leading to an unknown number of deaths when the Al-Qaeda linked fighters clashed with government soldiers backed by local militia.
Al-Shabaab claimed through it’s media that dozens of government soldier were killed but there has been no independent report on the casualties.
The group farther claimed to have seized military vehicles and weapons.
Radio Dalsan reports that residents fled as fierce fighting rocked the town.
Moqokori had last month been captured by the government forces backed by Amisom troops.
