The body of a Somali man identified as Fuad was found damped at a river in Cape Town South Africa, Somali community leaders have told Radio Dalsan.
Fuad is believed to have been murdered before his body was thrown in to the river in a case many Somalis believe is a xenophobic attack.
“His body was found in Bellville river on Monday morning and taken to a hospital mortuary. Fu’ad didn’t have close relatives in South Africa” Abdulrazak ‘Inda Ja’eyl’ said
The body has been preserved at a Cape Town morgue with no one coming forward to claim it.
Fuad who sold clothes at the Bellville Marke in Cape Town t is said to have been living in South Africa without documents
“Somali community leaders should come forward and work on how to have Fuad buried. They are the only people who can do so because he didn’t have proper documents to stay in the country” he added
Somalis have in the past been a target of xenophobic attacks in South Africa. Community leaders demand the Cape Town police to arrest those behind the killing of Fuad.
