Ilkaweyne Omar Jaahuur, who was a pastoralist has hanged himself to death in Galgaduud region in central of Somalia after lost all his livestock to drought, residents revealed to Radio Dalsan.
“The reasons why he was hanged is when all his livestock lost to drought, he was had a lot of goats, after hit us the drought all of our livestock died†one of the residents said.
South and central of Somalia are the main area damaged the drought, there are many pastoralist fled their residential area and come to cities.
There is comments about the Somalia government and Galmudug regional state of Somalia.
The humanitarian situation in Somalia has become increasingly fragile towards the end of 2016, especially in the northern regions.
Drought conditions are deepening in Puntland and Somaliland, and have expanded to southern and central regions, including Gedo, Hiraan, Galgaduud and Lower Juba.
The Deyr rainy season, which usually extends from October to December, has so far been poor, and high temperatures combined with limited amounts of rain in October 2016 that have led to drought conditions in most of Somalia, ranging from moderate to extreme.
The UN announcement of famine in Somalia is both a wake-up call to the scale of this disaster, and a wake-up call to the solutions needed to limit death-from-hunger now and in the future.
