Kenyan Interior cabinet secretary Joseph Ole Nkaisserry and top security officials have meet Somali Marehan clan leaders.
The meeting in Nairobi attended by two former Somali Prime Minister Abdilawali Sheikh Ahmed and Abdi Farah Shirdon (Said) from the clan follows suspicion by Kenyan government that the deadly Alshabaab attack on its troops early this year in El Ade was coordinated by the local tribal militias in the area.
The leaders cleared the air on the attack saying Alshabaab is a common enemy that needs united response from both Kenya and Somalia.
Interior cabinet secretary has assured Somali  Mareexan leaders on cooperation in fight against terrorism and extremism in Somalia.
Kenya which has sent its troops inside Somalia in late 2011 suspects that local Somali clans have coordinated with Alshabaab for political reasons on deadly El Ade attack on January this year.
