Kenya police are on a manhunt for a Somali national said to be in the wanted list of the Interpol and Kenya after he managed to sneak into the country when on transit through the Wajir International Airport.
The man had boarded a Fly 540 flight from Mogadishu’s Aden Abdulle International Airport but upon arrival at Wajir where a mandatory security check is usually done on all flights from Somalia he disappeared when Kenya Police raised an alert over his presence.
Passengers were interrogated for some four hours at Wajir before they continued with the fight to Nairobi.
Among the passengers were two Somali Ministers , Deputy Minister for Health Osman Mohamed Abdi Daalo and Mahad Mohamed Salad Minister of the Office of the President.
“We were held in Wajir for four hours. The police explained that they were looking for a wanted man who was in our plane” Minister Abdi posted in his Facebook page.
He added that police used sniffer dogs to search all passengers despite protest.
Radio Dalsan confirmed from Aden Abdulle International Airport officials that the man indeed departed from Mogadishu Thursday morning.
It is not clear who the man is and why police is on a manhunt for him or whether he has any links to Somali militant group Alshabaab.
