Somali leaders in Baidoa for National Consultative Forum

Somalia’s federal and regional government leaders have gathered in Baidoa town to attend the National Consultative Forum.

The forum will discuss the national Security Architecture, the process of federalisation of finance and the elections process at federal and regional levels.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and his delegation were welcomed by the South West regional state President, Abdazis Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen, in Baidoa on Wednesday evening.

The Somali Prime Minister, Hamsa Abdi Bare, and Mogadishu Mayor, Yusuf Hussein Jimale Madale also reached Baidoa, the administrative capital of the South West state.

The Lower House Speaker, Sheikh Madoobe also arrived in Baidoa as the National Consultation Forum is scheduled to begin on Thursday mid-morning.

According to Southwest state administration which is hosting the conference, Jubbaland, Galmudug, and Hirshabelle leaders, Ahmed Mohamed Madoobe, Ahmed Abdi Qoorqoor and Ali Gudlawe respectively reached Baidoa town.

Reports say the leader of Puntland state, Said Abdullahi declined to attend the forum and travelled to Addis Ababa for undisclosed reasons.
