More than 10 people were killed after a wall surrounding a mosque in Nairobi’s South B estate collapsedon Monday night.
According to Kenyan Newspaper Daily Nation, the wall collapsed on structures built next to the wall at Mukuru Fuata Nyayo slums following heavy downpour in the city.
According to St Johns Ambulance, two people were injured and others trapped in the 9pm incident.
“Death toll rise to 10. Search and rescue operations ongoing,†a post by St John Ambulance on Twitter stated.
The injured were rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital.
St Johns Ambulance stated that the rescue mission was called off at 1.30am Tuesday but resumed at around 7am.
Some roads were rendered impassable and estates flooded following a heavy downpour in Nairobi on Monday night.
