A suicide bomber on Thursday detonated an explosive laden vehicle at a security checkpoint on the outskirts of Somali capital Mogadishu killing two people.
Somali Police confirmed the explosion at the Sinka Dheer checkpoint in Kahda district.
Several people including civilians were injured.
Alqaeda linked Somali militant group AlShabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack saying it targeted government soliders.
Last Friday the group executed two suicide bombings targeting the Presidential Palace and the Somali intelligence agency NISA headquarters killing at least 45 people.
