The Commander of Somalia’s Presidential guards Colonel Ahmed Mohamed was on Thursday fired after he protested the withdrawal of Speaker Mohamed Osman Jawari executive security.
A source at State House confirmed to Radio Dalsan that Mohamed got the marching orders from the Military Chief Ahmed Jimale.
On Wednesday Jawari was stripped of his security after a standoff at Parliament.
Jimale accused Jawari of violating security procedures by accessing Parliament buildings with armed security.
More than 20 soldiers part of the Jawari’s Wednesday escort have been detained.
Pro Jawari Mps now claim that the longserving Speaker’s life is in danger after he was stripped of his security details.
Radio Dalsan has however learnt than he had been offered a minimal number of bodyguards beside Amisom protection.
Somalia fell into deeper political crisis on Wednesday forcing Amisom to intervene and take over the security of Parliament.
The executive and the Speaker have been involved in a one month long tussle as a impeachment motion against the latter hangs in suspense.
