The Minister for Transport and Aviation in Somalia Mr. Ali Ahmed Jamac Jangeli has categorically said that there is no suspension of airline movement between Mogadishu and Hargeisa.
But in contrary to that statement of the Minister the head of the Somali migration department General Gafow has a day ago said in a written letter that as from the 22nd of February all flights from Mogadishu to Hargeisa the capital of the breakaway state of Somaliland will be suspended.
General Gafow said in his letter that Somaliland charges high the Somali citizens who travel from Mogadishu to Hargeisa, which he said is absolutely illegal, because he said Somaliland is part of Somalia and Somali nationals cannot be charged high during domestic flights.
Minister Jangeli said what the head of the migration officer said is not beyond him and confined with the territory of his office, and he does not agree with him.
“There are not flights between Mogadishu and Hargeisa which are been suspended and can be suspended in the future” said the Minister.
On their part Somaliland has insisted that they will charge the Somali nationals from all other parts of Somalia as foreigners upon their arrival in Somaliland.
