Somali tribe has inaugurated traditional respected leader in a colorful ceremony.
Ugas Hassan Ugas Khalif of Xawadle tribe was on Monday crowned the throne in a stadium near agricultural city of Beled-Weyn in the south of the country.
Senior government officials, respected tribal leaders, businessmen, officials from neighboring state and African Union peacekeeping troops from Djibouti attended the ceremony.
Ugas Hassan Ugas Khalif is 20th inline of the succession leadership since the traditional leadership system was established for Xawadle tribe.
The traditional tribal leaders living in the area have also attended the ceremony and contributed livestock in respect to the Somali tradition.
Most of Somali tribes have centralized system of traditional leadership respected across by the community and recognized by the federal government.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has sent his congratulations to the newly crowned tribal leader.
The inauguration of Ugas Hassan Ugas Khalif is crucial for the establishment of the ongoing Hiiran and middle Shabelle regional state administration.
