UN special envoy to Somalia has said Somali politicians should be partially blamed for delayed elections in the country.
Speaking during UN Security Council meeting in New York Ambassador Michael Keating said there is fear that Somali politicians are interfering in the elections timetable and therefore we cannot rule out another delay in the elections again.
“The current Somali election delay may result several other setbacks,” Ambassador Keating told UNSC.
The UN has shown its concern about the delayed timetable but expressed confidence that the elections will go smooth.
Interim Somali electoral commission has on Monday announced another month delay for much awaited Presidential elections.
There are more than 14000 voters in upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections since one man one vote is not possible due to security.
