Mohamud Abdullahi Siraji, brother to late Abbas Abdullahi won the Kismayu Federal parliamentary seat on Thursday, Radio Dalsan reports.
Mohamud won in the second round garnering 50 votes against his competitor Fardowsa Hussein Mohamed who got zero whereas one vote was spoilt.
Minister for Public Works Sadaq Abdullahi Abdi who was Mohamud’s main competitor stepped down from vying for the seat on Thursday.
The seat was left vacant after the holder Abbas Abdullahi Siraji who was also the Minister of Public Works was shot dead by bodyguards to a top government official allegedly suspecting Siraji´s vehicle belonged to militants.
