The Somali Court of Appeal has today nullified the decision of Banadir regional court over politician Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame’s case.
The Court of Appeal has allowed the office of the Attorney General to conduct its investigations on the politician’s case and banned Abdishakur from travelling abroad until the charge against him is concluded.
On the other hand, the court has fined eight lawyers for refusing to defend the accused. Five of them were suspended from service for two months and were ordered to pay a fine of not less than USD 2000 while the other three were ordered to pay a fine of not less than USD 2000.
Neither the politician nor a lawyer representing him attended the court hearing.
