IGAD Head of States Meeting Kicks off in Mogadishu

IGAD head of states are in Mogadishu for the 28^th session of the extra- ordinary meeting.

The meeting is the first high profile international forum held in Somalia since 1986 regional meeting.

Somali National Army has welcomed the leaders with guard of honor upon arrival at Aden Abdulle International Airport.

Traditional dancers also entertained the guests with Somali traditional dance.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who is hosting the meeting has welcomed the leaders at the venue near highly fortified Mogadishu International Airport.

Somali Foreign Ministry has confirmed that Sudan’s President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir not attending but Khartoum ambassador to Somalia will be representing.

Also sources said Djibouti President Plane developed mechanical problem and could not land but expected to arrive for the meeting.

Security, elections and regional development top at the agenda in the one day meeting.
