Gunfight between government soldiers erupted near the official residence of the Hirshabelle President in Jowhar the administrative capital of the Somali regional state, Radio Dalsan reports.
According to an eyewitness a vehicle belonging to HirShabelle Vice President Ali Guudlawe was shot in the firefight between his bodyguards and government soldiers.
One soldier was killed and two critically injured in the exchange of fire.
The incident put to halt normal activities in the usually busy Hirshabelle administrative capital.
There was no immediate confirmation on what caused the fighting.
