The Somali government will bring back more Somalis who are jailed in other countries around the world.
Speaking to the VOA’s Somali service, Somalia’s Ambassador to the United Nations Mr. Ali Sa’id Fiqi said that the government is committed to bringing all Somalis detained or jailed in other nations back to the country.
Mr. Fiqi said those returned back will be rehabilitated and then allowed to join their parents and family members.
The Farmajo-Kheyre administration has within its first year managed to bring several Somalis serving jail terms in foreign countries back to their country where some were allowed to join their families as soon as they arrived, some rehabilitated for some time before setting them free and some were to finish remaining jail terms they were serving.
Late January 41 Somalis facing jail terms in India arrived back in the country . The government has achieved that through negotiations and agreements with the concerned countries.
