The Germany’s parliament on Thursday officially approved more support for Somalia in a vote session held in the capital. The parliament’s speaker said that 554 parliament members voted for the continuation of German support to Somalia.
At least 20 military experts from Germany are currently serving in Mogadishu to provide military training and advice to Somalia defense ministry and the forces as part of its operation in East Africa.
Somali Federal government and AU operation is yet to eliminate Al-shabab from the region as the group continues launching massive attacks against the Federal officials and its foreign interests. The German military has been active in the Somali mission since 2010.
The Al-Qaeda affiliated militants, Al-shabab claimed recent attacks in Mogadishu despite Somalia’s permanent representative to the United Nations Yusuf Bari-Bari,, who was among the targeted officials has been laid to rest in Garowe on Sunday.
