Galmudug security forces today launched an operation to wage war on the fleeing Alshabab terrorist fighters that were defeated in Garad and Suuj area by Punt-land forces, but sought safe haven from our territories, on the eastern part of Galmudug.
The forces waged a hunting operation targeting the fleeing Alshabab fighters who headed towards the Galmudug territories to seek hideouts and regrouping spaces, but the forces foiled their trial.
The Galmudug minister for information, Mr. Mohamud Aden Osman aka Mesagaway confirmed that Galmudug security forces went into war with groups of Alshabab fighters fleeing, who reached the Dinooda and Jiray territory of eastern Galmudug.
The forces defeated the fighters in the battle after few hours of fighting.
“Heavy fighting between the Galmudug Forces and Alshabab fighters broke out in Dinooda and Jiray territory of Galmudug, the Alshabab fighters were those that fled from Garaad and Suuj areas, where they fought against the Punt-land forces.
Our forces killed 23 of the fighters, captured 13 others alive and confiscated weapons from them” the minister said.
The minister also confirmed that Galmudug is facing several frontlines at this critical time and among the frontlines which Galmudug forces are facing against Alshabab terrorists include El-Huur, Amaara and Haradhere.
However, Galmudug forces are prepared to fighter Alshabab fighters and clear the terrorist group from all Galmudug territories.
The forces that fought against the fleeing Alshabab terror fighters are still following after the remnant in order to liberate Galmudug territories from Alshabab and reduce the dangers that remnants can pose to the people of Galmudug.
Thus, the minister called on the Somalia government and the international community to support the Galmudug forces fighting against Alshabab in order to liberate all Galmudug territories from terrorist group.
He also requested the Somali people specially the Galmudug communities to provide moral and means support to the forces in order to motivate them to succeed the fight against terror.
Galmudug government forces have been launching the operations against Alshabab terrorist group, which intend to liberate Alshabab from all central Somalia regions as well as the regions under the Galmudug administration.
