Somaliland kicks off electoral registration process

Electoral registration process has kicked off in the self-declared state of Somaliland.

The process was delayed before due to disagreement over date of elections in the semi outonomous region that declared self-independence from Somalia in early 1992.

Somaliland is set to conduct presidential elections on March next year.

House of elders has delayed the elections last year paving way for the extension of president Silanyo government a move that led to mass protest by the main opposition.

Though not international recognized as independent state Somaliland has registered development in the areas of peace, stability and democracy unlike central government in Mogadishu.
