Somali pirates releases 26 fishermen held since 2012

Twenty six fishermen from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India and other Asian nations held hostage by Somali pirates since 2012 have been released, after payment of ransom, local officials said.

The fishermen and their ship attacked by Somali pirates in March 2012, they were 29 but three of them died for illness, source have revealed to Radio Dalsan.

Residents of Galkayo, where the Galmudug administration is based, said millions ransom was paid but the information could not be independently verified.

Furthermore Pirates demented more than three millions but they had got les then that number.

The ship hijacked to pirates is named Naham 3 and had flag of Oman nation.

On Saturday the hostages flown to Kenya as to reach their original country, however there are no comments from the hostages country.

Piracy off the coast of Somalia reached its height in 2011 when there were 237 incidents attributed to Somali pirates and 28 vessels hijacked.

But a combination of armed onboard guards and international naval patrols have had a big impact and last year there were no successful hijackings, according to the International Maritime Bureau which tracks piracy incidents worldwide.
