Authorities in the north eastern Somalia state of Puntland stopped an anti-UAE meeting that was scheduled to be held in the administrative capital Garowe on Thursday night.
The meeting which was to take place at the security New Rays Two Hotel had its agenda as “The intentions of the UAE and the disunity in the Somali nation”.
Security forces Puntland raided the hotel and informed the organiser that the even had been banned.
Puntland State claim that the event organised by the regions youth had not not been issued with a permit by the authorities.
The meeting was viewed to be critical of President Abdiweli’s Gaas support for United Arab Emirates against the Federal Government stance.
Gaas had recently returned from an official visit of the Gulf country and held a press conference in Abu Dhabi wheere he declared that Puntland had the constitutional right to sign deals with UAE.
