Somalia’s National Independent Electoral Commission participates in the Annual Continental Forum of African Electoral Management Bodies.
NIEC Chairperson Ms. Halima Ismail Ibrahim, representing Somalia participated in The Forum that took place in Maputo, Mozambique on 14 – 15th November 2022, which was organized by the Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security (DPAPS) of the African Union Commission in collaboration with the Association of African Electoral Authorities (AAEA).
The theme of the conference was “Building Resilience of Election Management Bodies to Safeguard Democracy in Africa”
Alongside chairpersons of the Electoral Commissions of Ghana and Ethiopia, NIEC Chairperson, Ms. Halima was a panelist in the first session of the conference that focused on the role of women in the leadership of electoral management bodies
