Kenyan government has once again cleared the air on the decision to send back Somali refugees home.
Deputy President William Ruto has confirmed to world leaders at Humanitarian Summit in Instanbul on Monday.
Mr. Ruto said the decision taken by his government is final and no turning back.
“Take humanitarian aid for refugees to Somalia. Kenya’s decision to close down the Daadab Camp is final,” Mrs Ruto told Ban Ki Moon and other world leaders who are presently gathered in Turkey.
The government of Kenya closed down its department of refugee affairs and ordered refugees out earlier this month citing security, environmental and economic threats from the refugees.
The decision was condemned by humanitarian agencies while UN has tried to convince Kenya to change the decision.
There are over 600,000 Somali refugees at world largest refugee camp Dadaab in North Eastern Kenya.
They fled the civil war in Somalia in early 1990s.
