Garissa residents protest against Al Shabaab attacks

Garissa residents have staged anti Al Shabaab demonstrations in the city to protest against attack on Garissa University.

More than 147 mainly students were killed and over 100 wounded when Al Shabaab fighters stormed Garissa university campus on Thursday.

Garissa governor Nadhif  Jamaa and area member of parliament Adan Duale have joined the rally which passed through the main streets of town.

The leaders denounced the group recent attacks against the students saying their actions are un-Islamic.

The demonstration comes as Al Shabaab has vowed to carry out further attacks in Kenyan cities.

The country has experienced wave of attacks since it sent troops inside Somalia in October 2011.

Somali President has called for close cooperation with neighboring Kenya to win war against Al Shabaab.
