Ethiopian government has turned down rotational opportunity to lead African Union Mission in Somalia peacekeeping mission after disagreement with troops contributing countries.
Djiboutian, General Osman Nur Sugale has taken over as new commander of the over 22000 troops as the result of Ethiopian laxity.
Sources said Ethiopians turned down the opportunity after conditions set by Addis Ababa to change the cord of conducts of mission was rejected by the AMISOM troops contributing states.
The conditions included deployment of Ethiopian troops who are part of AMISOM in Somali capital Mogadishu and receiving orders from Addis Ababa and not consulting with members of AMISOM in Mogadishu as far as AMISOM military operations is concerned during Ethiopian commander tenure.
More than six AMISOM Member countries felt that Ethiopian move was disrespect to host country and threat to already achieved stability in Somalia.
Somalia and Ethiopia are at hidden war due to 1977 war precipitated by annexation of Somali dominated region of Ethiopia.
