Somalia: Talks between Somalia and Somaliland to resume shortly

The deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia His Excellency Mohamed Omar Arte Qalib has on Wednesday said that soon talks between Somali and Somaliland will soon resume.

The Premier made the speech while been a host for the Somali government controlled radio station in Mogadishu.

The Turkish government has been arbitrating the mediation talks between the two sides.
“The talks and discussions with Somaliland will soon resume and we hope it will end in positive understanding between the two sides, we want the two in one nation as they used to be since from the 60s” said Arte.

Somaliland has declared itself an independent nation from the rest of Somalia in 1991, but since then it has gained no international recognition.
